Bun Namazu — Nothingness (2022)
Medium: Projection Art & Field Recordings
Duration: 18:19 min
Exhibition: Art'In Lima (Ponte de Lima, Portugal, 2026)
Nothingness is an 18-minute audiovisual installation exploring the relationship between architecture, space, and landscape at the São Domingos Mine in Mértola, Alentejo. Built using field recordings captured on-site - echoing empty buildings, wind through iron structures, and the silent oxidation of metal - the piece contrasts the toxicity of acidic waters with the raw geometry of industrial ruins, asking: What remains of human ambition when the economic engine shuts down?

ABOUT
Bruno Ferreira(b. 1982, Portugal)A composer, visual artist, and fine-art wildlife photographer whose practice explores the intersections of sound, light, ecology, and spatial perception.Sound & Composition
Grounded in studies of organic agriculture, observational astronomy, and philosophy, his practice began in 1995 with the construction of observational tools for studying celestial mechanics. This early investigation into natural rhythms and spatial dynamics transitioned into music in 1997, beginning with custom-built hardware and early digital audio environments.Working across sound design, hybrid composition, and audio mastering since 2008, he is the founder and curator of Dan Dada Records and the creator of the sonic identities Bandulu Dub and Bun Namazu.Fine Art Photography
The exploration of spatial dynamics later expanded into visual art. Moving beyond traditional wildlife documentation, the work isolates fauna — primarily avifauna — within minimal compositions created using natural light in native habitats.Works are produced as archival Fine Art prints in limited editions.Current Practice
Based in Portugal, he continues fieldwork across Atlantic and Mediterranean natural reserves while developing integrated audio-visual works.
